Environment and sustainability in Compass Group
Compass Group has a clear ambition to be a leader in sustainable operations in all customer deliveries. Our goals for the environment and sustainability are rooted in both our own strategy and in our understanding of what is important to our customers. This is reflected throughout the supply chain.

Sustainability is about taking into account the environment and climate, social conditions and economic governance, also referred to as the three dimensions of sustainability. At Compass Group, we feel a strong commitment to take responsibility for people, whether it is our employees, customers or the local community. We want to reduce our impact on the environment and run the company in a way that adds value over time.
From the procurement of raw materials and products to final delivery, we focus on safety, sustainability, taste, health and service. This happens both internally and in collaboration with customers, suppliers, businesses and organizations.

Climate and environment
The food industry plays a key role in the green shift, and we at Compass Group are doing our part. We were the first food and service provider in the world to commit to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, across our entire value chain and operations globally.
Our largest source of greenhouse gas emissions is our procurement, and of this, our food procurement accounts for over 96 percent of our emissions. This also means that the biggest impact comes from making adjustments to our menus and the food we serve. We are actively working on these measures to reduce our emissions:
- Menu optimization towards lower CO2
- Climate labelling of menus
- Electrification of the car fleet
- Purchase of renewable energy

Financial sustainability is not just about profitability, but about running the business in a way that creates value both for the company and for society over time.
As part of our work with the Transparency Act, we map and assess the risk of human rights and decent work violations throughout our value chain.
We build long-term customer relationships based on quality, reliability and security in our services. We prioritize suppliers who actively document and implement measures for the environment, human rights and decent working conditions. This includes:
- Certifications and third-party verification
- Sustainable raw materials and biodiversity
- Climate accounting and Scope 3 reporting
Through our global innovation initiative, InnovationHub, we invest in technology and innovation to reduce costs and environmental impact. Optimizing our internal processes is an important part of this work. By improving routines and working smarter, we strengthen both the economy and the sustainability of our deliveries.
